Lesson Plans

I haven't put too much thought into what my 10 lesson plans will be. I feel that from the past, with writing lesson plans that it is a lot easier to base the lesson plans off of an integrated unit plan. This would be best for me because I can break up a unit plan into any number of days and use a variety of subjects.
Since I am planning to do my observations in the third grade, I plan to first talk with the teacher that I plan to observe and see what their current lessons are covering. I feel that I would like to stay on task with them, so that I can be on the same page. I also feel that it will help me be more comfortable with writing my own lesson plans, because I can run them by my cooperating teacher and ask her to let me know if she thinks that I would be creating a useful lesson plan for her class.
However, I could surprise myself and decide to do it all on my own and just choose the one that I feel is the best to present to her class and ask the cooperating teacher to then grade me herself and let me know what she thinks of my ability to write a lesson plan for her class and if she thinks that I would be successful with writing lesson plans for a third grade classroom.
Any constructive criticism I can get, I will take.

  1. I agree with talking to your cooperating teacher to get an idea. Especially since we have to teach a lesson plan. Being able to use one of the ten would be nice. I feel like this is going to be a stressful eight weeks to get through. So much going on and then adding your school and school work to it feels like an overload. Picking one topic and then integrating subjects into does seem like the way to go. Good luck!

  2. Shannon what subjects do you prefer to teach? Yes I to agree that it would be easier if you where able to do a lesson plan from what they are working on. Then the students would have some working knowledge and it might be easier. On the other hand switching things up might motivate the students to be more active and interested. I too like Tinya believe that this could be a stressful few weeks. Especially teaching and there being test before Thanksgiving break.

  3. L enjoy bouncing my lesson plan ideas of my cooperating teacher. I ALMOST ALWAYS get a few ideas from them or they are able to help me take it a step further. Teachers have so many resources- at the school that I Substitute teach and observe at- they have an amazing resource room.

  4. That's a great idea. Then you might get a chance to actually try them in your class! It's a powerful feeling to use something you created to help kids learn.
